OSCAR NOMINEE DANNY AIELLO stars in the World Premiere of the
full-length version of “THE SHOEMAKER,” a deeply compelling drama, about an
Italian Jew whose family died in the Holocaust. He now faces another traumatic
event—9/11. The Shoemaker retreats into his shoe shop. But not even this once
safe haven provides enough solace on this devastating day as he confronts his
past, present and uncertain future. The one-act version of The Shoemaker played
to sold out audiences last summer. This thought-provocative play was made into
a film which NBC film critic Jeffrey
Lyons described as "...a DARING movie which takes a lot
of CHANCES and comes up a WINNER...DEEPLY MOVING and COMPELLING. Danny Aiello calls The Shoemaker the “role of a lifetime.” You’ll see why.

you believe that you were personally invited into her living room where she
engages you with stories of her life, a life in the theatre in which she shares
her friendships, her adventures, and her misadventures with theatre luminaries
such as Danny Kaye, Arthur Miller, Katharine Hepburn, Richard Rogers, Marilyn
Monroe (her sister-in-law), and Noel Coward, among others. You’ll hear songs
from her shows and her memories of what it took to become an actress in the
good old days (the bad old days, really) when you had to know how to act, not
just be the flavor of the week. It may keep you awake!
